![]() Strike first to weaken the opponentWhen you have the upper hand in a fight, it is unneccesary to floor your adversary, this should be accomplished by tactics. But if, for instance, he begins to weaken, this can be a good opportunity to force him to the ground since he can be controlled with more ease, or in an extreme situation, hit in the face. In order to bring your adversary to the ground, you must have a good notion of balance and instability. It is not a question of flooring him by force, but by using the least possible effort, to unbalance him. You must, therefore, find the way to destabilise your opponent and the directions in which you must take him. If you make a mistake, you run the risk of wasting a lot of energy in the process, which is not advisable as you have no knowledge of the way in which the fight is going to evolve (your opponent may get a second wind, an accomplice may arrive on the scene ...). In Krav-Maga, we prefer to floor an adversary only after having given a series of blows which have weakened him. The best possible way to accomplish this is to work with a sparring partner. Little by little in this way by using different positions, you should be able to pull and push your partner to find his point of instability. This will enable you, in future fights, to find them quicker. |
